Pirates of the Burning Sea – Server Shut Downs

Pirates of the Burning Sea is the pirate MMO we all wanted. Pirates, ships, things blowing up!
What isnt awesome about that? POTBS is what is considered the thinking man’s MMO with more strategy in between wood splintering and masts falling apart.
However the game has meet sub par success and Flying Lab Software has made the announcement that it will be reducing the number of servers from 11 to 4.
Higher player density is always a good thing but closing servers this early in its life cycle cant be good.
Check out the press release through the link.

Warhammer Online – Target Audience

Some of the most talked about features on the upcoming MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning are its expansive and direct approach to PvP (Player Vs. Player) or RvR (Realm Vs. Realm) however is this strategy viable in competing with or even outdoing World of Warcraft?
It would seem as if it could with the World of Warcraft forums filled daily with talk of how the PvP in WoW has died and that Warhammer Online will be the answer to their cries. No doubt people who PvP constantly on WoW but dislike it immensely will immediately move over to Warhammer Online. However the selling point of WoW has always been both its ease of use for new and casual players. No other way could an MMO reach ten million subscribers without somewhat appealing to mainstream gamers as a whole.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – All Looks?

When a game comes along that stuns everyone with its graphics most of us if not all are pulled into an unending hype machine where we look past gameplay flaws just because the game is really pretty.
Assassins Creed or Crysis are both great examples. Assassins Creed was a great looking game which recreated famous cities such as Jerusalem. The scope was breathtaking and the detail impeccable. Assassins Creed turned out to be a good game but one with some repetitiveness and minor glitches. Most people looked past this because… It was really pretty.

Nintendo’s Success – Can it last?

Over the past year Nintendo has had what will be one of its largest successes. The Nintendo Wii was a resounding success shipping over twenty three million units. The Wii is still a rare find in retail stores and its handheld counterpart the DS is selling at an incredible rate. Stock prices were up and optimism has been high at Nintendo.
However can Nintendo continue its success in the future? Looking back towards the Gamecube’s popularity overall compared to the Xbox and the PS2 you have to wonder. The largest problem Nintendo has faced is attaining third-party support from companies who can produce quality games.
